Plagiarism: Overview

This guide is designed to help you navigate the pitfalls of plagiarism. Many students fall prey to plagiarsm because they do not understand the rules and regulations around using other people's work in class assignments.

Plagiarism Defined

Plagiarize as defined by Merriam-Webster is:

  1.  to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own use (another's production) without crediting the source
  2.  to commit literary theft present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source
