Remember to properly format your Works Cited

Remember to put your Works Cited in alphabetical order, use hanging indentations, and double space them

Websites, Social Media, and other Online Media

If the website does not have a publication date (last updated) you need to include Accessed and the date you accessed the website.

Example:

Mullan, John. "English Literature." Britannica, www.britannica.com/art/English-literature, Accessed 21 July 2021.

In-text citation

  • list the author's last name and the title of the webpage at the end of the quotation/paraphrase (Mullan "English Literature").
  • or, Mullan states on the Bitannica website the following quote/paraphrase ("English Literature").

 

Tweet:

User's Twitter handle. "Whole tweet ending with a period." Twitter, date, time, twitter.com/...

Example:

@mlastyle. "We are officially live at http://mlahandbookplus.org! Browse our new digital platform to learn more about #mlahandbookplus, available through institutional subscription." Twitter, 15 Sep. 2021, twitter.com/mlastyle/status/1438233157409587200.

 

TikTok Video:

Last name, First name [@username]. "Whole caption including hashtags." TikTok, date, URL.

Last name, First name. "Videos." TikTok, date, URL.

Instagram:

Last name, First name. [username]. "First few words of Instagram post..." Instagram, date, instagram.com/...

Example:

Facebook:

Last name, First name or account name. "Description of post." Facebook, Date, URL.

Example:

Example:

Schott, Kai. "Searching the Library Catalog." YouTube, 25 Feb. 2021, https://youtu.be/Igg6p_KKjBA.

In-text citation

  • list the author's last name and the relevant video time at the end of the quotation or paraphrase (Schott 00:01:30 - 00:01:47).
  • or, Schott notes the following quote or paraphrase (00:01:30 - 00:01:47).

Note: If the author is not the same person who uploaded the video use this format for your citation:

Author's Last Name, First Name. "Title of the Video." YouTube, uploaded by Screen Name, date, URL.

Example with no Author:

In-text citation

  • list an abbreviated title and the relevant video time at the end of the quotation or paraphrase ("An Introduction" 00:01:30 - 00:01:47).

Video from the Library Database:

"Title of the Video." Director, Publisher/Publication Company, date, Academic Video Online, URL.

Example:

"Dickenson, in Famous Authors." Directed by Malcom Hossick, TMW Media Group, 2017. Academic Video Online, https://www.proquest.com/index?accountid=35051&selectids=1009174.

In-text citation

  • list the title in quotation marks or a shortened version for long titles, and the relevant video time at the end of the quotation or paraphrase ("Dickenson, in Famous Authors" 00:01:30 - 00:01:47).
