Remember to put your References in alphabetical order, use hanging indentations, and double space them

Edited Books and Chapters an Edited Book

Editor's Last Name, First Initial. (Ed.). (year of publication). Title of book. Publishing Company.

 

Example:

Charters, A. (Ed.). (1992). The portable beat reader. Viking.

Parenthetical citation (citing editor without using their name in the text): (Charters, 1992)

Narrative citation (using the editor's name in your text): Charters (1992)

First Editor's Last Name, Initials., & Second Editor's Last Name, Initials. (Eds.). (year of publication). Title of book. Publishing Company.

Example:

Kimble, G. A., Wertheimer, M., & White, C. L. (Eds.). (1991). Portraits of pioneers in psychology. American Psychological Association.

Parenthetical citation: (Kimble et al., 1991)

Narrative citation: Kimble et al. (1991)

If the book has three or more editors use et al. meaning there are more authors but not listed in the in-text citation.

If you are citing a chapter in a book by the same author, cite it as the whole book (see Book Citation). This form of citation is for citing one author in an edited book or anthology that has multiple authors.

 

Author's Last Name, Initials. (date of publication). Title of the chapter. In Editor's Initials, Editor's Last Name (Ed.), Title of the book. (page numbers).                                  Publishing Company.

 

Example 1:

Dylan, B. (1992). Blowin' in the wind. In A. Charters (Ed.), The portable beat reader (p. 371). Viking. 

Parenthetical citation: (Dylan, 1992)

Narrative citation: Dylan (1992)

Example 2:

Beier, E. G. (1991). Freud: 3 contributions. In G. A. Kimble, M. Wertheimer, & C. L. White (Eds.), Portraits of pioneers in psychology (pp. 43-55).                                     American Psychological Association.

Parenthetical citation: (Beier, 1991)

Narrative citation: Beier (1991)
